VisionQuest “Immolation” Review

Season 1 Episode 7 – “Vision and Ultron’s twisted relationship comes undone.”

Please note that our reviews are based on likes and dislikes. These contain significant spoilers. If you haven’t already watched the episode, we recommend that you click off the article and come back once you have watched the episode. Enjoy!

Highlights

1. I do really like how Tommy admitted that even though he knows Vision is not actually his dad, he understands Wanda. He says that if he were to lose Lisa, he would lose himself too. Reminding us that it is exactly what happened to Wanda after the events of Infinity War.

2. I do also like how this Phantom Stranger is able to speak to both Vision and Jocasta, giving them both tips on how to become themselves and how to stop Ultron and Jocasta. I’m very curious to see who this is. This mystery person tells Jocasta that they are their past and their future.

3. Corvus Glaive’s weapon returns to the MCU. Vision is using Paladin to use something as a power source. This is what he has. The Wakandans turned Corvus Glaive’s weapon into a power source or battery. I do like how Paladin burned bridges to get this way before Vision needed it.

4. Vision finally admits that he lost Billy, Tommy, and Wanda. He finally breaks down and admits that he is, in fact, the Vision. No one else. He is The Vision. He is the key and always has been the key. We get to see Vision don a new look as well. The Synthetic Man finally gives Ultron the source code.

5. Ultron is revealed to be the main villain. He was the one who planned all of it. He ordered his men to kill Paladin, Ultron killed Friday, and put in the motion for Jocasta.

What Didn’t Work

Nothing to report this week.

Standout Character

Ultron takes this. It was going to be The Vision, but the twist and the reveal at the end gives it to Ultron.

Favourite Moment

My favorite moment would be when Vision is going into his core to find some memories. He speaks with Ultron; he then speaks with the original Vision, who tells him that he is the Vision. He received his own memories and the Vision from WandaVision. He then speaks to the man on fire, the first of the AIs, the Synthetic Man.

Great

Overall, a really solid episode that pulled off a fantastic twist at the end of the episode. The story was really good, the reveals throughout the episode were great as we... I would have liked to see a bit more action.
