Andor “Welcome to the Rebellion” Review

Season 2 Episode 9 – “In the Ghorman aftermath, Mon Mothma takes a stand. Cassian must carry out a difficult extraction.”

What I Liked

1. The Empire is cracking down on everything. Immediately after the Ghorman riots, a Senator gets arrested, and Bail Organa informs Mon Mothma that there are listening devices in offices, so she needs to be careful in what she is doing.

2. Luthen’s plan is for Cassian to extract Mon Mothma after her speech. Luthen knows that she will get arrested, and Luthen plans on taking her to Yavin before that happens. Cassian’s correct in telling Luthen that he needs to go to Yavin as well, but Luthen is not finished on Coruscant yet.

3. I do love how immediately after the Empire killed many people on Ghorman, they are in the Senate spewing propaganda that Ghorman was a brutal place and attacked the Empire without hesitation, and that there were people for a long time talking about Ghorman being a bad issue.

4. Cassian’s extraction of Mon Mothma was fantastic. Seeing him get her out while walking through the Senate building was fantastic and so reminiscent of The Clone Wars animated show as there were a few stories within that show that show’s the Senate being infiltrated and escaped from.

5. We finally have K-2SO alive and well in the series now! Can not wait to see more of this character in his early stages of being friends with Cassian.

What I Disliked

Favorite Moment

My favorite moment would be when Mon Mothma was giving her speech in the Senate while the Imperials were trying to stop it and close the Senate down. Her speech gives hope to a lot of people, including Cassian. This ties in with Star Wars Rebels and the overall larger story of Star Wars.

Standout Character

I am giving this to Mon Mothma. It was between her and Cassian, but ultimately, her speech is what sparks the early stages of the Rebellion.

Verdict

Overall, an episode that links into the overall bigger picture of Star Wars, connecting it more with the original trilogy, Star Wars Rebels, and more. The story within this episode was fantastic, and the action was somewhat decent.
