Batwoman “Down Down Down” Review

Season 1 Episode 3 “The city waits for another visit from who they think is Batman; Alice continues to taunt Kate; Mary gets an unexpected new friend; as Batwoman faces a new enemy, Kate realizes she must make a decision.”

What I Liked

1. It took a while before anything interesting happens. Bruce’s childhood friend, Tommy Elliot shows up (never heard of him). Shortly after, a man in a Batman suit is found dead, seemingly dropped from a building.

2. Luke Fox is finally coming around to the idea of Kate donning the Bat mantle. Showing her how much the suit can take, even telling her to suit up while she goes to speak to Tommy.

Can we get the wig yet? The helmet looks ridiculous at the minute.

3. Mary brought some much needed humour to this weeks episode. Any series dedicated to Gotham tends to have a seriously dark theme, she lightens up the mood. Especially after she was stuck in the elevator.

4. Ruby Rose is truly an incredible casting option for Batwoman. She’s really stole the role. I cannot picture anybody else playing the role.

5. Big shoutout to the Riddler mention!

What I Disliked

1. Tommy Elliot is an absolute disaster for this show. I have never heard of him. He shows up out of nowhere, and wants to kill Bruce. Although Bruce actually saved his parents. A pointless villain for this episode. Quite literally zero reasoning behind his actions.

2. Elevator drops that many floors, crashes to the floor, and he’s awake, talking? Yeah, right, okay.

Favourite Moment

Typed a bit too soon. We get the full suit up. That suit is incredible, it looked amazing in last years crossover. It’s great to see it again, and more regularly.

The Verdict

Slow start, but picked up with incredible pace towards the end. The suit up was the best moment of the episode for me. Ruby Rose delivered yet again, another exceptional performance. She really deserves all the praise in the world.

Rating: 8.7/10
