Mark your calendars. September 17th, 2025. Amazon Prime brings a second season to The Boys spinoff, Gen V.
The finale for the first season set up numerous angles surrounding our main heroes waking up and being locked in a sterile, white hospital-like room. We had Sam and Cate go pretty much supervillain. We even had Homelander showcase that he’s never going to be the good guy.
I remember watching the show, thinking I’d love for Homelander to show up and save the day. How naive I was. He did show up, but did the complete polar opposite, as to be expected with his character. Either way, I’m so happy to see the shows finally connect in more ways than just discussions or Easter Eggs.
Gen V threw me off guard. I wasn’t expecting the show to be good, but it honestly really was. Amazon Prime has been on a roll with its TV shows in recent years. They tend to ensure their projects are made with high quality and good storytelling. Gen V was no different.
It’s why I’m excited for the second season. The Boys did so well that it allowed the universe to expand outside of that. There are so many different ways they can expand this incredible universe. Gen V remained faithful to the usual setup when it came to their episodes.
It was bloody, over-the-top, grotesque, and sometimes felt a bit too real as to what we could expect if superheroes were an actual reality on this planet.
The Boys is set to end after the 5th season, but I do hope this isn’t the end of the franchise in a live-action setting. As I already mentioned in this article, there are so many different things they can explore, and I hope this is something the higher-ups are discussing as we speak.
When the second season does air, it’ll feel extremely sad that Chance Perdomo won’t be reprising his role after his sad and untimely death in March 2024. I do hope the showrunners pay homage to an incredible and talented human being.
