HALO Season 1 Review

Our season reviews are normally in a set format, however, this one is going to be changed slightly as we didn’t review the season episodically and we waited for the entire season to release before reviewing it.

Season Overview

Firstly, I see why many Halo fans were angry at the series for allowing Master Chief to remove his helmet and have emotions and all of this stuff goes against the nature of his character in the video. What you need to remember is that this series is not based on the game, while they use the same characters they are essentially in another universe.

For me, I didn’t care about Master Chief removing his helmet because the series established that it was a human under the armor right up until the last few moments of the finale episode. I think that him removing his helmet quite a bit in the first season will allow Cortana who is now in control of the body will now focus on being the best soldier.

The first season established the universe quite well if I’m honest. The world-building and the enemy building were fairly decent in the first season, it didn’t give fans too much at once and allowed you as a viewer to get to know the world and enemy.

Another thing the first season did well was the visuals for the worlds, enemies, and weapons. I’ve played the games so I know what the weapons and stuff sound like, I instantly noticed that in this series. While people might still hate the series, the overall first season did exactly what it needed to do.

Favorite Moment

While the first season had countless amazing moments, My one favorite moment from the entire first season was the finale episode where Master Chief and the Spartans took a fight against the enemy. This whole fight scene was amazing, especially seeing it from a game POV. It was just fantastic.

Disliked Moment

It’s only fair that I put my disliked moment in this review as well. While the series was great overall, it did have its moments of bad. Like the episode where we saw Sorem babysit Kwan. This whole story arc was boring up until she returned to her home planet.

Verdict

Overall a really great first season which left viewers wanting more in season 2. The story was decent and the action was really better, arguably some of the best action in a TV series in a long time. The characters were decent, with a couple of annoyances but overall decent.

Deserves a second season?

Yes, it does deserve a second season. I think if you tuned out from the first season you truly missed out. Dive back in and give it another chance. Season two could be even better.
