Hawkeye “Hide and Seek” Review

Season 1 Episode 2 “Clint has to help Kate disentangle herself from the Tracksuit mafia and a real-life murder mystery.”

What I Liked?

1. Instantly the relationship and chemistry between Clint and Kate is very noticeable. They instantly connect with somewhat Kate fangirling over Clint, asking him to sign a bow. The two are then attacked by the Tracksuit Mafia with Kate essentially showing off her archer skills.

2. You can truly tell that Clint just wants to be with his family, it has been shown in movies a few times but I don’t know, something is more in this series. He’s trying to be with them but slowly being pulled back in by this Ronin persona, like it has its own mind.

3. I’m glad we have some sort of answer as to why Clint is going deaf, from what it was shown, it was just far too many explosions, battles, and bangs to the head. I was worried that it would be slightly ignored but the way they kind of touched on it was decent.

4. I love the fact that Clint is getting forced to participate in a makeshift old fake battle in a part to just get to someone who is wearing the Ronin suit. He tries to bargain with the guy but ultimately the guy wants to kill Hawkeye in the battle for the suit, which Clint agrees to. It comes down to a 1v1 with a crowd around them, Clint “dies” and receives the suit.

5. Kate finds out who killed Armand while Clint purposely gets himself captured by the Tracksuit Mafia. Kate is trying to get in contact with Hawkeye but finds out he’s been captured so she sets out to go find him. I truly like this dynamic that the two archers have, you can just tell that Kate is going to be a main character in the Marvel Universe going forward.

What I Disliked?

Nothing to report in episode 2 either.

Favorite Moment

My favorite moment was when the Tracksuit Mafia was “interrogating” Clint and Kate falls throw a glass window on the roof in front of Clint, with one of the Tracksuit Mafia guys saying a funny quip like “Bro, I found her”.

Standout Character

I’d have to say Clint gets the stand-out in episode 2. He had to go out of his comfort zone and pretend to fight in a battle just to get the Ronin suit. He had to willingly let someone beat him for it, although it was a fake fight, this would have still been awkward and unusual for Clint.

The Verdict

Overall another really great episode. What a beginning to a series. This episode continued from where the last one ended. It continued the great story, the action was fairly decent. The characters were once again all great. The dynamic between Clint and Kate is truly incredible to see.
