Legends of Tomorrow “The Blonde Bullets” Review

Season 7 Episode 1 “The Legends are trapped in 1925 when someone uses a future Waverider to blow up their Waverider.”

What I Liked?

1. Spooner has a point about what the Legends are doing, every time they begin to fix something, something else goes wrong and her mother will be the one to pay for it. I truly like Spooner in this first episode. She’s got a long way to go but the development for her has been fine thus far.

2. When J. Edgar Hoover arrives, he begins looking around the home of Spooner’s mother. The key that Constantine gave to Zari last season comes in handy when she opens a doorway to a “pocket dimension” which Constantine created. J. Edgar Hoover looks in the closet and doesn’t find the Legends. This pocket dimension is also in hell.

3. The Legends become bank robbers to lure J. Edgar Hoover to New York to get them away from Spooner’s mother. They rob a bank but J. Edgar Hoover is quickly onto them. He begins shooting at the Legends vehicle but manages to not get hit by jumping on top of it. He then falls to the ground, goes to shoot Nate but Nate manages to turn to steel and the bullet bounces back killing J. Edgar Hoover.

4. After Spooner and Astra have a powerful conversation, Astra’s magic causes Gideon to become alive, in a human form. I really liked this because I enjoy seeing Gideon in a human form. Gideon is important on the Legends series so it’s great that this has happened.

What I Disliked?

1. The time watches that the Legends have run on batteries? This kind of technology uses BATTERIES? This is such lazy writing for the beginning of this episode. Even Ava Sharpe put in the Waverider a box which supplies in which every one of the Legends has emptied to put in different things like beer and gummies.

2. The Legends come up with a plan to “pretend to be a circus” so that the town doesn’t come snooping around. Their name is “The Guggenheim Circus”, they couldn’t think of anything else and just had to throw in his name.

Favorite Moment

My favorite moment was definitely Astra taking it upon herself to go and use magic to fix the blown-up Waverider, which after that amount of magic for a beginner, she passes out with blood coming from her nose. We find out that she wanted to prove that she could be the next John.

Standout Character

Astra, as mentioned above, she took it upon herself to try to become the next John when in reality, she only needed to be herself.

The Verdict

Overall, even though the story and action slightly lacked. The episode had a mediocre beginning to season 7. While this was one of the highest ratings the series has had for an episode in a little while, I hope this continues to improve throughout season 7.
