The 3 Star Wars Games I’m Hyped For — Plus One That Needs to Happen

Star Wars has had some gems in recent years. Fallen Order, Survivor and Battlefront 2 (post-release). There are 3 games in the pipeline already with another one I do really want.

The Jedi series alone were some of the best Star Wars games of all time, if not, the best. They were so well made and I feel like after many updates to Battlefront 2, it got to a wonderful state but it’s a game with so much potential left to be seen.

Battlefront 3

Battlefront II recently saw a huge surge in players—and honestly, I’m not surprised. My friends and I have returned to the game several times since launch, and we always have a blast. There’s just so much to sink your teeth into. Personally, I especially love the co-op mode against bots—it’s incredibly fun at times.

Battlefront III has been trending lately, and the demand for it is real. Even some of the developers from the second game have expressed interest in returning for a third installment. Sure, Battlefront II received a lot of rightful criticism at launch, but to the developers’ credit, they clearly cared. Over time, they made real improvements—reworking the progression system, adding new factions, characters, and game modes. By the end, it became such a polished experience that it’s genuinely enjoyable to revisit.

As for Battlefront III, there’s still plenty to build on. Obvious additions like new playable characters and factions are a given, but there’s room to innovate too. One idea I’ve had is a large-scale mode that starts on the ground, transitions into space, and finishes in a location like the Death Star. A more refined Heroes vs. Villains mode would be great as well. And while Battlefront II told a solid story, there’s definitely room to expand the narrative in new and exciting ways.

I’d love to see EA and DICE return to the drawing board and make it happen. I’m ready for a fresh, new Star Wars shooter. Honestly, I’m just bored of Call of DutyFortnite, and the rest. A new Battlefront is exactly what the community—and I—need. Hopefully, we’ll hear something after Battlefield 6.

Star Wars Jedi 3

We’re heading into the territory now of games that have officially been announced, and Jedi: Survivor 3 is the one I’m most looking forward to. The first two entries are easily in my all-time top 10 most-played games. I’ve wanted a proper lightsaber-focused game since I was a kid. The Force Unleashed and Revenge of the Sith scratched the surface, but the Jedi series really filled that void.

The ability to change stances, customize your lightsaber, and even choose your saber’s color was a huge deal. I find myself constantly experimenting with these features across multiple playthroughs—so naturally, I’m intrigued to see just how far they’ll push it in the third game. The second title already introduced a wide variety of stances and options, so the potential is exciting.

For a third game, I think it’s time the story starts tying into the larger canon in a more meaningful way. With all the chaos Cal has caused on his journey, there’s no way other surviving Jedi wouldn’t have heard of him. That needs to be addressed. There are even rumors floating around that Cal might be making his way into a live-action Disney+ series—so I’m really hoping Respawn doesn’t kill him off at the end of the third game.

My only real complaint with the series so far has been the outfits. The second game made progress here, but there’s still a long way to go. I’d love to see proper Jedi robes, some Sith-inspired outfits, and even masks as customization options.

I was really hoping for a trailer at the State of Play event—especially since it’s been over two years since the last game. At this point, it feels like we’re not too far off-hopefully.

Star Wars Eclipse

Quantic Dream is currently working on a new project. If you’re not familiar with them, they’re the developers behind games like Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human. These are interactive story-driven games where almost every decision you make influences how the story unfolds. They’re known for their stunning visuals, emotional depth, and complex branching narratives that can change dramatically based on your choices.

Both Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human were incredible experiences, so I’m really looking forward to seeing how they bring that same storytelling style to the Star Wars universe. A teaser trailer was released back in 2021, but we haven’t had any major updates since then. That said, it’s not surprising — a game of this scale, especially one where the story adapts so heavily to player decisions, is bound to take time to develop properly.

Given Quantic Dream’s track record, I’m confident it’ll be worth the wait.

Choices have consequences. Every decision you make can have dramatic repercussions on your journey: alter your relationships, the locations you visit, the battles you fight, and even the fate of the characters themselves. The way of life in the Outer Rim is being threatened and you must define your path: become the architect of a devastating war, a peacemaker who will restore balance, or something else altogether.

Knights of the Old Republic Remake

Out of all the announcements we’ve seen in recent years, this one was the biggest for me. The most recent update came from Tom Willits, who confirmed that everything Saber Interactive has been working on is still moving forward — and that seems to include the KOTOR Remake. The project has faced some major setbacks since the original trailer dropped over three years ago, including issues with the initial studio before development shifted to Saber.

I’ll be honest — I’ve lost a lot of hope for this remake. But deep down, I can’t help but still feel excited. I never really got to experience the original in its prime, since I didn’t have a PC back then (I had just turned 10 when the first game released). The idea of playing it with modern graphics, a new engine, and possibly some updated features sounds incredible on paper. At the same time, the rocky development history makes me nervous.

That said, I really hope we hear something concrete soon. It’s one thing for execs to post vague updates on X, but actually showing something — even just a short teaser — would go a long way in reassuring fans that the game is still alive and progressing.
