What I Liked

1. The opening scene. Seeing all the different Mandalorian characters training, using their weapons, jetpacks, and more. It feels like while we’ve seen Mandalorians countless times in live-action, we haven’t truly seen them train. Plus Din wants Grogu to train with the foundlings.

2. Din pushes Grogu into a training exercise between him and another foundling. The exercise is using darts, each dart that hits is one point. Grogu gets hit easily twice, Din tells him it’s ok, and show them what he can do. Grogu then does a few flips and hits the kid with 3 darts, winning.

3. Bo-Katan and a squad of Mandalorians climb to the top of the dragon’s nest to rescue the foundling that was caught by the dragon. Paz Vizsla goes headfirst into battle against the dragon to rescue the foundling, who is revealed to be his son.

4. Bo-Katan getting a new armor plate created for her shoulder, she asks the Armorer if she could wear one signet of the Night Owls and another one of the Mythasaur. I love the fact that we get to truly witness how great the armor is crafted throughout the series.

What I Disliked

Nothing to report.

Favorite Moment

My favorite moment would be seeing the return of an old friend. In the episode, we get to see more of the flashback scene where Grogu escapes the Jedi temple. The Jedi that was protecting him die and he goes into an elevator, the doors open and a Jedi appears, master Jedi Kelleran Beq played by Ahmed Best. Ahmed Best was the voice actor and mocap for Jar Jar Binks who was brought back to play Kelleran Beq in the Jedi Temple Challenge and now comes full circle in The Mandalorian.

The scene of him duel wielding the lightsabers against the 501st Legion was amazing, and the entire chase sequence afterward was also incredible. What a perfect scene.

Standout Character

I could have easily chosen Bo-Katan, Din, or even Paz, but I’d feel bad if I didn’t choose Kelleran Beq. His entire sequence, appearance, and duel wielding of lightsabers were incredible. Ahmed Best deserves this and more.

Verdict

The best episode of the season thus far. The entire storyline of the foundlings, the trials and training they have to go through, and seeing just how dangerous it is to be a foundling. You can easily get swept up and taken as bait for creatures. The episode also delivered one of the best flashback moments in the entire show’s history.
