Why I’m Looking Forward to the Square Enix Guardians of the Galaxy Game

It’s been a heavy year for gaming. A lot of what I was initially excited about has been delayed to next year. Hogwarts Legacy, Gotham Knights, and the LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga is still TBA.

So, you can imagine my surprise when Square Enix showcased the video game at E3, I knew it was coming, I just never expected it to come so soon.

At first, because Square Enix was involved I was initially skeptical because of how their Avengers game went, but the more I read into this, the more my excitement peaked.

Even more so after my friend told me to watch the 10 minute gameplay footage which you can see here;

Whilst I’m slightly disappointed you can only control Starlord, it looks very well done considering the entire attention would have gone into his mechanics.

I do also LOVE the fact you can make subtle decisions as the game progresses, like in the gameplay trailer you can encourage Drax to throw Rocket across to the other side, or tell him to settle down. I hope these decisions affect the storyline in a way down the line.

It’s one of the things Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics did so well with Marvel’s Avengers was the story. It was actually very well done, it was only the end game content that was stale and boring.

So the fact they’ve focused on making this a proper single player game is epic, and I can’t wait.

If you haven’t watched the actual trailer yet, you can do so below;

Let me know what you guys think? Are you excited for this or not?

Either way, we’d love to get your thoughts down in the comments below!

Guardians of the Galaxy will be available on all major platforms 26th October 2021.
