Why Insomniac Games Is The King Of Superhero Games

Let’s be honest, would you ever expect a studio like Insomniac Games could pull out two incredible Spider-Man games, something other studios tried and failed to do?

Well, they did! This is a studio that’s known for popular series such as Ratchet and Clank and Spyro. Those games kind of play and feel the same, and whilst they’re both powerhouses in their own right, who would have thought Insomniac could pull off a Spider-Man game?

At E3 2016, perhaps the most unexpected part was an explosive Spider-Man trailer from Insomniac, due to debut exclusively to PlayStation which makes sense considering Sony own the rights to the character.

Spider-Man was finally released September 7th 2018 to a very warm reception from critics, fans, casuals and pretty much anybody. Whilst it did have hate in certain regards, it’s still the best superhero game to ever exist.

The game sold 3.3 million copies in the first 3 days, and as of today, it has sold over 15 million copies worldwide. Breaking records in the process. It’s safe to say Sony’s trust in Insomniac massively increased, even to the point that Sony bought the studio.

That success further continued, when the PlayStation 5 was officially announced – we got another surprise. This time, it’s only flipping Miles Morales!

The hero everyone wants but is ALWAYS teased. Nah, Insomniac pulled the damn trigger!

For the pathetic hate out there that they only made this to fit some BLM agenda, is totally false and who cares even if it did?

Miles Morales is super interesting and deserves the spotlight in every aspect going forward. He’s an inspirational character, and I feel like this is his time.

Now, numbers are vague considering the game only came out less than 2 weeks ago. It was the best selling game for the launch of the PS5, and I’m not even surprised.

The game had a lower price tag due to it being more of an expansion to the first game, which makes sense. It had an exceptional and moving story, just like the first did. Incredible suits, insane graphics, fantastic soundtracks (listening to Jaden – I’m Ready right now), and so much more.

The reason why I call them kings of the superhero gaming, is purely down to how they do it. They make their games with passion, heart, and take lore into consideration.

Do you know how many comments I have read on Marvel’s Avengers posts saying that Insomniac should have made Avengers? I don’t blame them.

Granted, there has been some powerhouses such as the Batman games and Injustice with more to come such as Gotham Knights, but it just hits different with this.

The stories in both games have emotional moments, they have moments that hype you, and moments that get you crazy mad. There aren’t many games out there that can do that, especially in today’s age where games are filled with so much rubbish that doesn’t matter.

Insomniac have done insanely well with both of the projects, and I for one, CAN’T WAIT to see what they pull out the bag next. Especially after the teases of both games.
