What I Liked

1. The episode begins with a fairground accident when a big wheel is breaking. The firefighters attempt to rescue a young girl, but it goes wrong and the wheel begins to break and tip over until Magneto saves them. This is a very different way than I expected. I thought Magneto would be attempting to make the X-Men use different ways.

2. Rogue explains to Magneto that she also had a troubled past before she came to the mansion. She explains that she didn’t go around demanding that they respect and trust her but she earned their trust. Magneto hints at the past relationship between him and Rogue.

3. Magneto stands trial. He explains his story, how as a child his home was burned to the ground because he chose to call God by a different name and then he was hunted by his people because he was a mutant. He makes a good statement until the trail begins to be attacked.

4. Executioner hits the one shot that was meant to be for Magneto on Storm, causing Magneto to become enraged. The shot that was meant for Magneto hit Storm and it caused her to lose her powers. Magneto speaks to the UN judges about what they need to do to be trusted.

5. The effects from the shot have left Storm without powers… permanently. She leaves a note to say goodbye to the rest of the X-Men. When Jean is reading it out, the doorbell goes. Morph opens the door and Jean is at the door as well. What or who is this new Jean and what exactly is going on?

What I Disliked

Nothing to report.

Favorite Moment

My favorite moment would be when Executioner arrives at the trial, he manages to take down nearly all the X-Men, including managing to take Cyclops’s visor off. Morph saves Cyclops by turning into different mutants like Lady Shiva, Colossus, and Psylocke, and Rogue flies Cyclops to Jean to have their baby.

Standout Character

The standout character in episode 2 has got to be Magneto. He’s truly come into the story and is living up to what Charles wanted.

Verdict

Overall, a solid story in this episode. The action was fantastic and you get a sense of just how much the public hates mutants. I liked that in this episode there were real stakes and Storm paid the price, losing her powers and becoming “normal”.
