What I Liked

1. Cable explains to the X-Men what Bastion is truly doing. He’s creating a new version of Sentinels that will replace mutants like humans did with Neanderthals. He also showed a future where humans thrived with mutants as the backbone.

2. In Bastion’s lair, where he’s currently got a restrained Magneto, he’s surrounded by screens. On these screens are certain villains. Baron Zemo, a female who I couldn’t make out, and none other than Dr Doom. The iconic Fantastic 4 villain.

3. Cable, Jean, and Cyclops go to visit Bastion’s childhood home where we meet his mother, who turns out to be a powerful Sentinel who attacks the trio. While this is happening, Beast also gets attacked by one in the X-Mansion.

4. The scene with Wolverine and Nightcrawler standing back-to-back fighting Sentinels was so amazingly fun to watch. Seeing the unison that the two were in was absolutely fantastic. The image of Wolverine and Nightcrawler tired but still standing looking up at more Sentinels coming was so good.

5. We see SPIDER-MAN from the 90s cartoon series while Magneto unleashes his true power that covers the entire world. WOW. Charles returns to Earth and immediately uses his powers to say “To me, my X-Men”. What an ending.

What I Disliked

Nothing to report.

Favorite Moment

The X-Mansion gets absolutely destroyed by the enhanced Sentinels. Wolverine being Wolverine doesn’t stop fighting and takes on a bunch of Sentinels on his own even in the air. While the Sentinels are about to kill Rogue, Wolverine and Nightcrawler stop them.

Standout Character

Honestly, this was hard to choose because it was between Wolverine and Nightcrawler but I’m going to have to go with Wolverine. Seeing him take the fight to many Sentinels on his own before he was joined by Nightcrawler was fantastic.

Verdict

This episode was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The story was great seeing all the aspects of Bastion and his childhood, seeing how easily he took the fight to the X-Men, especially on their own doorstep. The action was phenomenal.
