I’ll be honest, I hardly know anything about Yu-Gi-Oh, I have seen many episodes of the anime, I used to collect the cards as a kid, I had a huge collection and then forgot about it.
It’s not until I’ve got back in the collecting trading cards business that Yu-Gi-Oh has been piquing my interest, especially this Maximum Gold box. I went and picked one up today and figured since I review the Dragon Ball Super Cards I’ll review this box and basically compare the two.

For Beginners
This section is where I’ll fit in the most. I’m a beginner to this world so I fully believe that this box is an ok place to start, it’s cheap, it comes with 4 packs which contain 7 cards with 2 Premium Gold Rares and 5 gold-letter Rares which is a perfect start for anyone in my position where that be for collecting, playing, or selling.
The box is easily affordable. The cards themselves are smooth, decent in quality and the premium gold cards are so nice visually to look at. I’d even go as far as to say they are on a level with the secret rares in the Dragon Ball Super Card game.
For Collectors
I can see why collectors and fans would want these as collector’s pieces, like I stated before, visually they are super nice, super clean, and the shine on the premium gold cards is unbelievable. I can see people getting more than a few of these cards graded either from PSA or another company.
But with decent visuals to look at comes a negative, the cards themselves feel very similar to Pokemon cards in the sense that they can bend easily. A couple of the cards I opened had a bend to them, nothing major but still a bend at the end of the day. Opening the actual card packs is still very much easier than the Pokemon cards.
Purely for Profit
Can you make a profit on one of these boxes? Yes, you can, I did off only two cards, those two cards alone got most of my money back in which I paid for the box, then the rest of the cards easily made me the rest. Obviously, this is only if I was to resell them.
Obviously, the profit only depends on which cards you manage to pull like if you pull a Blue-Eyes White Dragon card you have made £3 profit, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon is currently selling for around £27.50. SO this set is nothing major like any card worth £100+ but at the end of the day, you pay £25 and you can easily make your money back with a slight profit. This only doubles if you get one or two cards professionally graded.

Overall Verdict
Overall, I was hesitant on buying any Yu-Gi-Oh cards as I didn’t know much about the franchise, but after buying this box I feel like I will slowly buy some more, I can see it happening. The quality of the cards is decent but very much similar to Pokemon cards but I think I prefer them over the Pokemon cards at the end of the day.
